James Pacheco: Billy Was A Man Of Faith

Jimmy Pacheco.jpg

I’ve known Billy for most of my life, and as with everyone who knew him, developed a special relationship with him. I loved helping with his campaign, because I knew his heart for the Big Island and its people. Billy wasn’t a politician, he was a leader, who did great things for our island.

But what I will cherish the most was spending Sundays with Billy and a handful of our friends sharing the word of God with each other. Through his health challenges, Billy never wavered from his faith and as the natural leader he was, he strengthened our mens group with his love of Jesus, even when he was in pain. We built a deeper relationship with Billy and I grew to love him like never before. I will miss him terribly, but I know he is with Our Lord. A Hui Hou my brother. I will see you again. I regret never building a relationship with his ohana, but please know that I love you Takako, Liam, Justin and Mahina and will do anything you ask of me. God bless you always.
